Ryan attributes much of his passion for monster trucks to his father, former Backdraft driver Rick Disharoon. Having spent the majority of his childhood (1996-2005) around monster trucks with his father, Ryan's interest was further fueled when his father purchased two Jeep Kaiser M715s. The intention was to build an off-road truck similar to Rick's former 1988 mud truck Wet N' Wild. They combined the best of the two Jeeps, creating one highly capable off-road truck for competing.

Ryan debuted Saigon Shaker at its first mud bog event in Gumboro, Delaware. It powered into the mud but was ultimately defeated by other competitors. The defeat served as a challenge to Disharoon to become the best competitor possible.

Innovations and perseverance helped the Saigon Shaker become a feared name in the mud racing scene. Evolving from a basic mud truck that would dig to the 200-foot mark, would now run a 250-foot hill and hole track in 3.9 seconds.

2010

Rick and Ryan purchased the lower half of two monster truck chassis. Determined to make the Saigon Shaker more than just a local favorite, Disharoon wanted to bring the Saigon Shaker to the big leagues (aka Monster Jam).

2015

Saigon Shaker made its first appearance in the Monster Jam league in Detroit at Ford Field stadium. The next year, Saigon Shaker had the honor of running in the most prestigious tour of Monster Jam Stadiums, followed by an invite to compete in a Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XVII.

Today

Disharoon competes in various live events including The Metal Shop's Monsters of Metal and Monster Jam.
